June Half Marathons in Arizona

Only one half marathon in June for the entire state of Arizona.  The Rezline Run Half Marathon 2017 is set to take place on June 24th in Indian Wells, Arizona.  No website for Rezline,  and is a no frills kinda race put on by some local families. They do have a Facebook page, with a link to a registration page.  No timing details available.  No post race food described on the site.  No course made available, other than posted as "can be made available".  Not sure Rezline Run would be a race someone would want to travel to with the lack of information provided, but could be a nice race to pick up as a local. Average temps for end of June in Indian Wells, Arizona is around 90 degrees, quite hot for a half marathon distance, however early temps can be as low as upper 50's, and the race does start pretty early, at 6am to beat the heat.

Arizona Half Marathons in May

The Whiskey Row Half Marathon took place on May 6th in Prescott, Arizona.  We'll post their 2018 date at Half Marathon Calendar USA when it is available.  Next up for May 2017 in Arizona is the Grand Canyon Trail Half Marathon.  The Grand Canyon Trail Half looks both challenging and beautiful, a bucket list event to add to the must do list for trail runners..........

Race Review for Half Marathons in Arizona

January Half Marathons in Arizona

There are no half marathons the very last weekend of December in Arizona, and no New Years Eve or New Years Day half marathons, however there are some fantastic half marathons in the month of January in AZ!  There are half marathons in Phoenix, Somerton, Surprise, and Sedona.

For those that like the big venues, the P.F. Chang's Rock'n'roll Half Marathon in Phoenix had a total of over 13,000 finishers in 2014.  For those that are looking more for a scenic half marathon, Sedona Half Marathon is known for it's scenic course and had just under 800 half marathon finishers in 2014.  The Yuma Territorial Half Marathon and ARR Desert Classic Half Marathon, both, are much smaller half marathons with about 277 finishers in Yuma and less than 200 finishers for the ARR Desert Classic in 2014.

Average temps in the phoenix area tend to be in the upper 60's.  Sedona, even nicer for running weather, tends to be in the upper 50's on average.  Surprise, Arizona looks to be about 63 on average throughout the month of January, and Somerton, closer to about 70'ish.

The Freedom Run Half Marathon is set to kick of on September 6, 2014 in Sun City, Arizona.  Run for a great cause!  All proceeds benefit at-risk individuals struggling to find freedom from life controlling addictions.

Only ONE half marathon in Arizona this weekend!  The Brian Mickelson Memorial Run Marathon, Half Marathon will take place in Cottonwood, AZ. TOMORROW, Saturday April 12th.

Registration is closed online, but you can still register in the morning at 5:15 - 5:45 am for Full Marathon; 6:15 - 7:00 am for all others

P.F. Chang's Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon Race Review

Race Review by official Fifty States HALF Marathon Club Member Maureen Bowen:

Ran RR Arizona yesterday and as much as people would like to complain about the Competitor group, this race was a well organized race. (With the exception of the pre-race traffic jam with a road closure for some). Start line organized, Course well marked, 1/2 and marathon totally separated, good parking or transit options, post race area organized (always wish they had more trash cans for the stuff they give out). FROZEN YOGURT WAS GREAT IDEA! Big bottles of gatorade. I either couldn't find or they have discontinued the ice bath area. The weather was FABULOUS for a race and the course was great for a PR even with RR traffic.

Expo had some changes for 2012 including the big Brooks sideshow stuff is gone as well as the Nutralite vitamins RV. One that that will cost me megabucks this year is that a vendor is rolling out sterling silver beads for each RR race (can you hear the cash register) - they do not have dates on them so if you have run a RR event in the past that you would like the bead, you need to wait until it is run this year and can buy it online or at the expo. My next RR will be one that many of you run - New Orleans. I have to give this race an A (I didnt have the traffic problem pre-race.)
